On November, 24 a regular meeting within the “Odessa Jewish Recipes Book” project which was created and implemented together with “Hesed Shaarey Tsion” Charity Foundation and the Jewish Cultural Center “Beit Grand” took place. This month the World day of challahs baking was celebrated. By no means we couldn’t pass it and decided to bake challahs with our volunteers and friends from Hesed. Sharon Turyanskaya became a special guest of our project who told in details a lot of interesting facts about challahs: why they are separated, why it is so important for Jewish girls to bake challahs on Shabbat and what challah on a table means according to the Jewish laws. We perfectly passed the time together, braiding the tasty egg-rich challahs in a special way. Our volunteers took the most active part in the process, assisting everyone and in all ways. Everything necessary was made in order that all participants of this meeting could safely bring home the dough which was ready to go into the oven. On completing of the event everybody hurried impatiently home to bake and serve a real “Jewish bread”.
